Suggest Treatment For An Ovarian Cyst With Separate Nodules

default
Posted on Mon, 25 Jul 2016
Question: Hi. I have been diagnosed with an ovarian cyst with separations and a nodule. I am not in menopause, but peri. No free fluid was found. I have to go back for my repeat ultrasound this month....

I also have had an endometrial biopsy due to my thickened uterine lining. It ended up being a normal pathology.

I am very concerned about the ovarian cyst - the idea of the nodule and separations makes me sick to my stomach.

I am 49 years old - no periods for about 5 months now. They say that my bx showed progesterone, so I am not in menopause just yet.

I think I just want this ovary/tube removed. I had the right ovary removed 20 years ago due to benign growth... cyst..

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Blood tests advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
I understand your anxiety about the issue and is genuine at your age.
Get CA 125 and CEA levels checked in blood.
The levels will indicate the nature and severity of the cyst to a lot of extent and rest will be revealed by repeat scan and if needed MRI.
Any complaint at your age should be evaluated properly.
All the best

Thank you.

It is my understanding that no free fluid is a good thing..

Will ask for the blood test but was told it has many false positives.

If I have cancer- do you think I caught it early enough. The gyn doesn't seem to be concerned that much.. but I have been distressed.

Thank you again.

Brief Answer:
Levels are important predictors

Detailed Answer:
Yes she is right that there are false positives but indeed there are certain levels beyond which we take it as true positive only especially at your age.
In genet right now nothing to worry and let's hope for the best.
