Suggest Treatment For Anemia In Pregnancy
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: Hello Doctor
Good day.
This is my 32nd Week of pregnancy , weight 48.30 , Blood pressure normal. I am taking 50X3 Mg daily iron supplements since last 4 month.
Last week I had blood test and doctor told me still I am anemic my blood count was 7.9 g/dL not sufficient at this stage.
However baby is around 1700 gram and growth is normal. My doctor is going to retest my blood so that they may suggest best treatment ahead.
Doctor told me they might advise for blood transfusion method.
I am very afraid and worried , kindly help me to understand about blood transfusion is really needed, any reaction to me or my baby ?
There is no other alternate except blood transfusion, is it safe at this stage ? I am feeling less energy and shortage of breath some time.
Kindly help.
Thank you for your time

Brief Answer:
Anemia
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I read your query and I understand your concerns
Following is my reply
1. It is unfortunate that inspite of taking iron suppliments you are suffering from anemia.
2. It is better to get tested from another laboratory to confirm if its really low.
3. Since you are already 32 weeks it is better to go for blood transfusion. It wont create problem to baby.
4. If you are not willing you can take iron sucrose injections. Your doctor will tell details of the same.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
