Question: I had a major stroke in 2014 which left my left side weak as a result when I put pressure. on my left leg my ankle tends to roll I wear a brace to keep it from doing that but I am very limited on which shoes I am able to buy and I am unable to just get up and walk to the batroom need to wait for someone to put my brace on and can not take a shower with it on I was wondering if it is possible to have a pin or plate in my left ankle to eliminate the brace thank you

Brief Answer:
yes ,it is possible through ankle arthrodesis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I am Dr Gopal Goel Orthopedic surgeon.
Since you have weakness in your Left side due to stroke and ankle is unstable , it is possible to give you fixed and stable ankle .
I suggest that you visit an orthopedic surgeon with regard to your problem and ask him if it is possible to go for ankle arthrodesis( fusion of ankle to remove any movement in it), who will after examination , guide you properly. If possible go for it.
I hope I have answered your question. Please feel free to ask any other question.
