Brief Answer:
many causes of ankle swelling

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
There are many causes for ankle swelling. Some of them are simple like eating too much salt and some are more serious like heart problems. In addition kidney problems a liver problems may also cause ankle swelling. Blood clots can do it as well but that is unlikely if it is in both ankles.
Here are some things that you can do, but you really need to see a doctor and get an exam and blood tests done to determine the cause.
Eliminate all salt from your diet. This means eating fresh fruits and vegetables and fresh meats. No canned food and no preserved or processed foods at all.
Walk daily at least 30 minutes, this helps with blood return to the heart.
Wear some support socks, this too can help with blood return to the heart.
Prop your feet up for 30 minutes 3 times a day with your feet higher than your heart.
Make sure to see your doctor soon to find out the exact cause of the swelling and to get proper treatment.
