Suggest Treatment For Anxiety And Depression

Question: Has the treatment for trigger points advanced in the last few years. I used to get injections and before I would walk out of the doctors office they would be 100% better. Lately however the injections have not helped at all and in fact seem to be getting worse.
If you could guide me to some white papers I would greatly appreciate it. I go to a rather young doctor and he is used to giving trigger point injections but I do not know what he is using. As stated before, when I would have them, before I walked out the front door they were gone.
(This was another doctor.) Your help will be a blessing as I am not getting younger and when they hit it is just about all I can handle. For some reason I feel that he does not like me taking the alprazolam. However, I will wait to see how I feel in the morning and if I feel OK I do not need to take any at all. Once again, thanks for you help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
Alprazolam is a benzodiazepine and is very good for relieving anxiety and depression to a lesser extent. However people develop tolerance to it and require higher and higher doses and get habituated. So you can develop unpleasant withdrawal symptoms when you want to stop it after a period of time.
This is the reason why doctors discourage you from taking alprazolam continuously.
If injections are not helpful in relieving your neuritic pain, you could try taking 300mg of Neurontin ( Gabapentin) at bed time. There is no adverse interaction with alprazolam.
Take care,
