Suggest Treatment For Anxiety And Eating Disorder
It is something very stupid but it is causing me to almost feel this way
I am eating less as it seems to have taken control and affects my appetite
Is there something I can do to stop thinking about it and stop the association with eating
It seems like every so often if something happens that may seem insignificant and rather stupid but I ponder on it and it affects my eating
It seems I have episodes every year or so
Do you think it's obsessive behavior?
Thanks

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.
This could very possibly be obsessive behavior, or even the development of an eating disorder. However, my primary suspicion is that this is all related to anxiety. Your ruminative thinking, that means thinking about things over and over, is a common symptom of anxiety. This anxiety in turn might be relieved by an eating behavior. To fix this, you need to address the anxiety directly. Since this only happens from time to time, rather than a medication like an SSRI antidepressant, you would probably benefit from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I would seek out a CBT therapist in your area. I also offer online text-based therapy on this website via my private link below.
