Suggest Treatment For Anxiety Attacks And Clinical Depression While On Nexito-20
My son, 20 years old, has recently been diaganosed as clinically depressed since the last 2 years. Since he was away in hostel, I did not realize it so long. Now, his studies are affected and he has anxiety attacks in class due to which he misses class and exams.
A highly recommended Psychiatrist has put him on Nexito 20 mg since 2 months now. He felt better for 2 months, but now I am seeing his anxiety attacks come back and he is missing some classes.
Please can you suggest if this is normal or if not, what should I do ?
Thanks

It is not normal
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Most of the patients who are prescribed anti anxiety medications do well for a long period of time but few patients experience recurrent anxiety attacks despite the continuation of medication. The same is applicable in case of our son and I do not feel this is normal.
Having said this, there are two options to counter these recurrent anxiety attacks.
First, to prescribe add on anti anxiety medication for a short period such as Clonazepam thrice a day, it can be increased further as per the needs.
Second, to add another antidepressant with the current medication such as Mirtazapine.
I need to acknowledge that what I mentioned above are prescription only medications and you will need to see his psychiatrist in person before adding the above mentioned treatment.
I hope this helps you.
Thanks again.
