Have Frequent And Heavy Urination, Profuse Sweating. Taking Nexito Forte. Discontinue Medication?
Hello , Iam taking Nexito Forte since 3yrs. stopped it abruptly. first day there was heavy urination. next day onwards i was feeling too lite. suddenly yesterday gottu hear a shocking news and was profusly sweating at a frequency o f 5 mins. later I again took the Nexito Forte tablet and could sleep. Please suggest should i continue the medicine or discontinue?
Hi, You are experiencing these symptoms because you stopped the drug abruptly after 3 yrs of regular intake. Escitalopram (nexito) has the potential to produce a 'discontinuation syndrome' if stopped abruptly. Longer durations of treatment appear to be associated with a higher probability of discontinuation syndrome than do shorter treatment periods. Typical symptoms include weakness, anxiety, agitation, nausea, muscular pain, dizziness etc. Symptoms start abruptly and can be intense. In order to stop the drug, decreasing doses every 2 - 3 days by small amounts, decreases the chances of discontinuation syndrome. Consulting your psychiatrist before stopping drugs is important. Hope this helps, Dr Anjana rao.
