Brief Answer:
Psychotherepay is other option

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I understand your concern about long term treatment of anxiety attacks. In fact anxiety disorders remain for life and majority of patients need either long term or life long treatment.

In addition to medicines there are option of psychotherapy. The most useful psychotherapy for anxiety disorders is cognitive behavior therapy (CBT). Generally 8-12 weekly sessions are sufficient for majority. The obvious benefit of therapy is less need for medications and permanent effect.

You need to identify a person who delivers CBT in your city.

Regarding medications in my view xanax can be removed after talking to your psychiatrist as long term use results in addiction.

I hope this helps you.
Thanks and regards

Can you suggest a Dr. in my area that I could contact? The Dr. that I was using was killed in an auto accident, leaving me with one to go to.
