Brief Answer:

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query at HCM!
I am Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. Sheetal Verma answering to your query!
I went through your query and understand your concern.

1. I understand you have panic attacks and anxiety disorder but it is unrelated to your HIV status. Are you on medications? Take adequate treatment, exercise and have an optimistic view towards life.
2. Now coming to your main query. HIV combo test is a fourth Generation (HIV 1&2 Abs/p24 Ag) test and is usually 99.8% accuracy after at least 4-6 weeks after unprotected sex. In your case as 12 days have passed iot cannot be fully relied upon. It detects antibodies against HIV and specific p24 antigens which are found on the surface of the HIV virus.
3. Now coming to HIV RNA PCR test it is reliable after at least 7-10 days after unprotected sex and is 99.89% accurate for HIV 1&2. It detects the virus RNA which is the genetic material (DNA) that makes up the HIV virus.
4. So as in your case at 12th day test was done so there is no chances of HIV infection. Just relax and use safe precautions like barrier method in future intercourse if you are not sure of partners status.

Happy to take more queries! If you would like some more information I will be happy to provide. You can take a follow-up query. It would be kind if you hit a thanks if found helpful. You can also write a review for me.
