Suggest Treatment For Asthma While On Prednisone And Flovent
Question: I am having an asthma exacerbation x 2.5 weeks. I am taking Prednisone, ProAir and Flovent. I think dogsitting set it off. It's not usually this long lasting. I tried Breo but it made me very shaky and sick. Any other ideas?I had a CT with contrast to rule out PE because I had one one time. Everything was clear. I had breast cancer almost 3 years ago, but am clear now. I am having alot of post nasal drip, too
Brief Answer:
there are some options left...
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
your doctor may add some of the following drugs to your regimen:
- ipratropium or tiotropium are bronchodilators of a different kind compared to proair and breo.
- montelukast and similar drugs may help in allergic rhinitis and asthma.
Using nebulizers is more effective than common inhalers. Finally ProAir and Breo both contain bronchodilators (beta agonists) which cause tachycardia and symptoms like the ones you've mentioned.
If you can't find relief and shortness of breath bothers you, you should be hospitalized to receive nebulized drugs and oxygen.
Kind Regards!
