Question: My 3 week old daughter had a case of baby acne on her face which turned into dry scale-like flaky skin. After flaking off, it left yellow patches almost completely covering both her cheeks and chin. She was diagnosed with atopic dermatitis by dermatologist . Do the symptoms sound like Atopic Dermatitis? He prescribed Cetaphil on whole body after bath, and 3 times Atogla cream, and Desonide cream for 5 days only, should I follow the diet while breast feeding can it be cause of my food? I mean am from Russia n ma husband is XXXXXXX , but baby is completely white, can it be because of this XXXXXXX climate? I am so much worry, here doctors don't explain anything properly...

Brief Answer:
Hard to say whether it is atopic dermatitis just from the mentioned details

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

Although it is hard to comment on whether it can be atopic dermatitis merely judging from the information provided, I would suggest that you continue the medications suggested by your doctor. I do not think that it would cause any harm if not good.

Although the mother's food reflects itself in the breast milk, I do not think that you need to get concerned. I would just advise you to go for a healthy normal diet. I do not think that any particular precaution is needed.

The skin colour is primarily genetically determined. Each of us has two genes for a particular trait. One of this can be recessive and not express itself. One from the father and one from the mother combine in the offspring. The white skin colour is a combination that has come from both of you.

Hope that helps.
