Question: I am taking Invega for bipolar disorder. I am experiencing severe weight gain. I take 9 mg a day. Would taking 6mg help me to lose weight or a least stay the same?

I have pain in my back and neck. I was taking opiods for the pain. My family en-couraged me to find another medication. I did, it is Mobic. I works quite well. Somedays better than others. Is the Mobic the best choice for back and neck pain?

Brief Answer:
Yes reducing the dose should help.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for asking from HCM for your health related issues

Invega is Paliperidone and is known to result in weight gain. If you are experiencing significant weight gain then its better to consult your doctor for either adjusting the dose or changing the drug.

Yes reducing the dose should help but exercise and dietary adjustments should be done to prevent further weight gain.

Other drugs like Aripiprazole can be tried, which has same efficacy as Paliperidone but is safer in terms of weight gain.

Thanks. Take care
