Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX Thanks for coming to HealthCareMagic. I see that your mother has been suffering from back pain that radiates down her leg only on one side. This is a typical sign of a pinched nerve. The condition is very common in elderly women due to softening of the bones with age (osteoporosis).
If that is truley what is wrong, there are many treatment options, both non surgical and surgical. But i don;t want to trouble you with that discussion until we can confirm diagnosis.
Have her get a PLAIN MRI of the Lumbar region and upload the scans to me. I can help you understand what is going on there and if a pinched nerve is what is causing the problem.
In the mean time. Pain medications like Imol and Brufen will help as long as she has no kidney issues. If she does then she would need to take a medication like Ultracet.
These medications will tide her over till she is scanned.
Let me know what your plans are and i will assist as I can
