Brief Answer:
Medical therapy would help.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr XXXXXX,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your mother-in-law's problems and MRI reports.

She is suffering from lumbar spondylosis with pinched nerves in the lower back due to slipped disc. At this stage, medical treatment is sufficient and surgery is not needed.

Medications that could help her nerve-related back pain are pregabalin or gabapentin capsules.

In addition, physiotherapy with back extension exercises and pain relief measure such as IFT, ultrasound and traction could help her.

She should avoid forward bending and lifting heavy weights.

I hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
