Suggest Treatment For Bacterial Vaginosis

default
Posted on Thu, 19 Feb 2015
Question: Its been 3 weeks since I completed a 7day dose of Doxycycline and Clindamycin (vaginal cream) to clear bacterial vaginitis and ureaplasma. 2 days ago I had intercourse with my partner and it seems like the BV is back because of the watery-like discharge I am experiencing.I was told by my doctor that this is BV and Ureaplasma is not considered an STI but It appears I keep getting this infection when I have sex with my partner. A month ago I was also diagnosed with Cervicitis and thankfully the Trich/gonorrhea/cylamdia results were negative. Is it possible for my partner to pass this bacteria to me? What does it mean when someone says the bacteria can be introduced by the environment? I am experiencing pain pressure again when I have intercourse. Could this be related to the cervicitis?

Brief Answer:
Vaginal swab culture needed

Detailed Answer:
Hello

I understand your concerns about repeated vaginal infection.

I think the organism was not responsive to treatment of Doxycycline and clindamycin you have received.

I suggest you get examination of cervix by a gynecologist to check for cervicitis and take a high vaginal swab during the procedure. This high vaginal swab will confirm the organism responsible for repeated infection by growth of organism in laboratory. Sensitivity report also shows the antibiotic or antifungal medicine the organism is most responsive to. You can take medicines accordingly.

The pain during intercourse is likely to be caused by cervicitis or pelvic inflammatory disease by long standing infection.

Please get an ultrasound scan done to check pelvic inflammatory disease.

It is possible that this is transmitted by your partner.

Bacteria being passes by environment means unhygienic undergarments or water usage, sanitary pads, swimming pools etc...

This could be related to cervicitis that needs to be evaluated.
