Suggest Treatment For Benign Tumor

Posted on Tue, 3 Oct 2017
Question: Hi, my friend was diagnosed with benign tumor - atypical central neurocytoma 3 years ago an under went a surgery where 50% of tumor was removed. For the remaining he was given radiotherapy. The tumor reduced little. But now the recent scan shows small growth in his brain also with some dilation in 2 places, meningial enhancement and has fully spread to his spine. He has been prescribed radiotherapy only for now. Later surgery may be done if need be. His CSF tap showed protein over 2000 and glucose about 80 or so. He has been having headaches occasionally, short term memory difficulties and has weakness in his limbs. What could be the prognosis in any case? Please advice if any alternate therapy will help. He s a very good soul and is only 31 years old. Will immuno therapy work? Wat will b the cost?

Brief Answer:
Hello dear. He will require chemotherapy

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. I have gone through the query. So he has developed meningitis related to cancer. Besides radiotherapy , he will require chemotherapy too. However, still the results will be not very good and survival will be low. You can go for alternative treatment too however, it may or may not work.
Thanks and regards

Chemo has not been prescribed as the doctor feels that this is not cancerous. But we are more interested in Immunotherapy. What will be the cost of the same and can Pallative care keep him alive atleast for 10 years? Coz he is normal but for mild weakness in left limb and some small memory issues. Can castor oil packs be applied after radiotherapy sessions on his spine? Iam reading a lot of stuff about it online that it helps break tumors. Thank you

Brief Answer:
Hello. Immunotherapy has not been tried in this tumor

Castor oil application can be done.
Iam sorry to say , but survival will be short, something in months only.
