Suggest Treatment For Bleeding After Dislodgement Of Blood Clot From Tooth Socket
the condition can be managed before dry socket develops....
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query. I understand you started bleeding after dislodgement of the blood clot from the socket probably secondary to vigorous gargling or rinsing mouth. In such cases, I encourage patients to follow up and evaluated.
Mean while you can place a gauze or cotton dipped and sqeezed in saline over the socket and apply pressure over it by biting over the cotton. This will reduce the bleeding. But if that doesn't stop bleeding, please consult your physician immediately.
I hope you are given a prescription for antibiotics. Please continue it as instructed.
Do not rinse your mouth vigorously
Do not smoke(if you have the habit)
Do not touch that area with tongue or finger.
Stick on to cold and soft diet, avoid spicy and hard food stuff.
I hope i have answered your query, take care.
If any queries are there, reply me back.
Prophylactic antibiotic, prevent infection
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your reply.
Even though it was not infected, prophylactically it is better to take a course of antibiotics preferably antibiotics like penicillin (if you are not allergic). Since the socket can get infected when it is an open wound and has high exposure to microorganisms in the oral cavity, I would suggest to start prophylactic antibiotic.
At the moment follow the instruction given above and observe. If the bleeding does not stop, then immediately consult your dentist and get the area stitched.
Hope I have answered your query.
Take care
cot has formed, consult oral physician
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback. If the bleeding has stopped it indicates the clot has formed in the socket.
Without physical examination I can say with some certainty that clot is formed because the bleeding has stopped now. But if still have a doubt, it would be worthwhile to get it checked at your dentist's office.
I hope I have answered your query.
Take care
