Suggest Treatment For Bleeding During Defecation
Question: Hello Doctor,
My father (Age 62 years, non diabetic) is suffering from bleeding while passing faeces caused due to internal fissure in rectum. He has been prescribed ultracet tablets that has relieved the pain but not much relief in bleeding which is still continuing while passing faeces almost daily. This might be causing lot of weekness in his body.
Also, he was recently hospitalized for jaundice which is cured now.
Request you to suggest any medications for him.
Thanks for the help.

Brief Answer:
Use ointment locally and do sitz bath
Detailed Answer:
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist.
For fissure apply nitroglycerine ointment before passing stool per annum to relax the anal sphincter which is the main cause of pain and lignocaine jelly per annum after defecation and at least 4 times per day for pain relief.
Give him lots of fibres and fluids and try to keep his stool soft. May use laxative like sodium picosulphate syrup for better response.
Also take sitz bath at least thrice a day
I hope I have answered your query and this will help you . Wish you a good health
