Suggest Treatment For Blisters In Chin And Cheek After Sunbathing For Too Long
Question: My daughter has been on Tazorac for acne. While at the beach, she fell asleep on balcony and one side of her face was sunburned. Small blisters formed on chin and cheek and skin was "puffy" and kind of resembled the texture on an orange. She took ibuprofen and used aloe and cool compress to face. Today the skin his very leathery and wrinkled around her mouth and near chin area. She has been keeping Cerave lotion on her face, warm compress on skin and sterile pads with lotion on face. It has softened some…but still wrinkled and hard looking. The skin looks very dry and hard. Is there something more we can do? Is there a chance her face will scar? The submitted photos were from the next morning after the sunburn. Today the skin is very leathery feeling and very wrinkled around the lips and chin and cheek area of the sunburned side of face. with makeup on, its so dry and wrinkled, it almost looks like she was burned at one time.

Given the history of use of Tazorac and exposure sun, it must be photodermatitis but since the pictures are of low resolution, its difficult to say for sure.
I would thereby request you to send some high resolution pictures taken from variable distance so that I can come to conclusive diagnosis and thus guide you in the better way.

Given the history of use of Tazorac and exposure sun, it must be photodermatitis but since the pictures are of low resolution, its difficult to say for sure.

Thank you for uploading new images.
It seems she has have got local irritation to the cream after sun exposure. It called phototoxic dermatitis.
Nothing to worry as your skin will be fine soon.
I would advise you a week course of oral prednisolone in low dose (5-10mg) along with oral antihistaminics like Benadryl.
Apply a corticosteroid like mometasone and antibiotic like fusidic acid twice a day for a week or so.
After good quality moisturiser like Cetaphil DAM twice a day over full face.
Avoid further use of any anti-acne medications for 10 days.
Avoid use of any cosmetics/facewash for few days.
Avoid direct sun exposure and use water-based high SPF sunscreen before stepping out in sun.
