Suggest Treatment For Block In The Right Carotid Artery

default
Posted on Wed, 6 May 2015
Question: I have had a partial block of my right carotid artery for several years (apx. 60%) that has been regularly monitored. I am a 70 yr old woman and today I have experienced several periods of twitching of my left eye area. No vision difference, but this twitching has occurred for a short period this morning, late afternoon, and now this evening. Is this something I should be alarmed about immediately or can I safely wait till tomorrow and see if it continues??

Brief Answer:
You can wait.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:

1. Twitching is due to muscle activity - fasciculations.
2. It could be due to stress, dehydration etc. As it is only at a single location, not to be worried about.
3. As the vision is good and there is no dizziness, not to worry. You can wait till tomorrow.
4. Presently you can relax and be adequately hydrated. Calcium supplements will be helpful. Take one daily

Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
