Question: I have 70% blockage in coratid artury on one side and totally blocked on other side. what is the best treatment

With the degree of blockage you have , you are high risk for developing Stroke .

You should definitely requires a surgical intervention to correct your 70% blocked Carotid artery.

Intervention include Carotid End Arterectomy or Carotid Artery Stenting .

Carotid Artery End Arterectomy is a surgery with slightly more risk when compared to Stenting . Both with Stenting the chance of re-thrombosis .

If your overall health is good you can get Carotid End Arterectomy done but if you have other risk factors like Heart problem then its better you get Carotid Artery Stenting .

In addition you need to take medications called Statins and Ecospirin .

If your Blood pressure is high it needs to be brought down gradually and not drastically .
