Is It Safe To Take Gardasil Vaccination?

Hello, My girlfriend is due to receive the Gardasil vaccination in two weeks. She is taking an oral contraceptive. She was looking up side effect statistics for the vaccine and found that there have been several dozen cases of thrombosis in sensitive groups after receiving the vaccine. She now does not want to take the shots. How worried should she be about this?

Hi,

Gardasil vaccination is used to prevent most cases of cervical cancer if this vaccination is administered before girls or women are exposed to the virus. This vaccine can also prevent vaginal and vulvar cancer. According to the various researches, this vaccine doesn't increase the risk for any serious condition and is very safe for all ages. But like other medication, it has side effects.

It may cause redness, tenderness, itching or swelling at its route of entry, headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, fever, thrombosis etc. But everybody will suffer from side effects after getting this vaccine, it is not like that. Thus, your girlfriend can take this vaccine as it is considered as safe.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
