Suggest Treatment For Blood In Stool While Having Constipation
Question: My husband was constipated and took miralax and ducolax. He had results, but today had blood in a small stool. Should he be alarmed. The blood was bright red.

He passes gas freely. There is no bloating. kThe blood was on the surface. He also has a lot of back pain. It has been several years since he had a colonoscopy.

Blood on the stool surface is most likely from hemorrhoids. So no need to be alarmed. It is common that a hard stool ruptures hemorrhoids what results with bleeding.
He should try some OTC suppositories for hemorrhoids along with sitz baths with Oak Bark. Fiber should be added to the diet.
This wont make hemorrhoids to disappear, but should help with bleeding. If no improvement, removal of hemorrhoids can be the only solution.
