Posted on Thu, 6 Aug 2015
Question: I have a boil on my buttocks. It was lanced 6 days ago. Apparently it had not come to a full head when lanced.I'm taking doxycyline. May I use a drawing ointment to draw more infection out. The wound has not closed.

Brief Answer:
yes can use one of these agents

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Wound opening is good at this stage so that any pus present would be able to come out, if closed and discharge still present, then reinfection can occur.

You can use one of these to help remove any pus that did not come out with the incision.
Magnesium sulphate paste is good at helping to remove or draw out any discharge that may be present.

Antibiotic cream can be applied along with this.

The wound would close by secondary intention (this means that scar tissue forms in the open space and it starts to close up).
Once it remains healthy, this would occur.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
