Does Taking Fibator Interfere With Acitrom Effectiveness?
I underwent a DVR surgery 8 years ago... was on Acitrom 4 mg for a long time... I was advised to take fibator a year ago due to high triglyceride levels... however, during that time my INR shot up to almost 5 or 6 and hence reduced the intake of Acitrom to 2 mg... now I am off Fibator and suddently my INR has dropped to 1.5... does taking fibator interfere with working of Acitrom?
Acitrom is a medication used as an anticoagulant to prevent blood clotting. It works by inhibiting the production of certain clotting factors in the liver, which helps to prevent excessive clotting. Acitrom dosage needs to be carefully adjusted to maintain a target international normalized ratio (INR) within a therapeutic range.
Fibator (combination of fenofibrate and atorvastatin) is a medication used to treat high triglyceride and cholesterol levels. Fenofibrate can increase the INR values, which may lead to an increased risk of bleeding if taken concurrently with anticoagulants like Acitrom.
While there isn't specific information available about the interaction between Fibator and Acitrom, it's possible that the fenofibrate component of Fibator could have affected your INR levels. This may have caused your INR to rise when you were taking Fibator, and then drop once you stopped taking it. It's important to note that individual responses to medications can vary.
