Question: My friend, 76 yrs old, has metastized cancer [ from breast cancer < 5 yrs ago] Todays cancer is in 5-6 new locations , she s been Rx Femara & radiation . What s her life expectancy at this point. Thank you, Dr. Rynne, I m grateful for your time.
Brief Answer:
Many years can be expected
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
I am sorry to know about your friend. However, it appears that she has hormone sensitive disease (that's why the femara), localised to bones and almost 5 years after the primary diagnosis. This subset of patients can survive many years with treatment.
The range varies widely between patients, average being 3-4 years.
I am sure she will do well with treatment.
Hope this helps.
Regards
