Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read carefully all your concerns and I am sorry for the situation you are in.
You are reporting to suffer from sever acid reflux (GERD) and to this point I would like to say that:
1. It usually needs 2 weeks of treatment with omeprazole before seeing any improvement. You have started it three weeks ago and the improvement would have been present now.
2. If you were my patient I would suggest increasing the omeprazoel dosage up to 40 mg in the morning and 40 mg in the evening (half hour before breakfast and dinner) for 8 weeks.
Moreover I would like to suggest you changing your lifestyle. The most recommended lifestyle changes are:
- To eat often and small portions of meal
- Try to eat 3-4 hours before lying down to bed
- Use antacids 1.5 hours after meal
- Use two pillows when you are sleeping
- Avoid coffee, chocolate, tea and carbonated drinks
- Avoid spicy, fatty and chilly foods
- Increase your physical activity
- Avoid unnecessary stress
Hope this was of help!
Wish you health!

Thanks for your informative answer.
Do you suggest me to increase my omeprazole dosage to 80 (40 in morning and 40 at night)? if so, for how long from now I should do that?
What anti-acid you suggest me? what you mean by taking anti-acid 1.5 hours after meal?
I am also having breathing difficulties. can be due to reflux disease? how should I treat it then?
Do you think drinking water right after meal can reduce symptoms of reflux?

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,
If you were my patient I would like to suggest treatment with omeprazole 80 mg per day (40mg in the morning and 40 mg in the evening) for 5 weeks from now. After that time you need clinical / endoscopic evaluation to decide the following treatment.
With regard to antacid treatment I would like to suggest taking 1 tablet of MALOX 90 min after each meal.
You are reporting to have breathing difficulties; it can be due to acid reflux. It will improve together with other symptoms after a couple of weeks on omeprazole.
I don’t think that drinking water right after meal can reduce symptoms of reflux. You should avoid heavy meals and large amount of liquids after meals. And drinking water right after meal will aggravate your symptoms (acid reflux).
Wishing you all the best
