Suggest Treatment For Bronchial Infection
Myself XXXX, my mother who is 77 years old (long diabetic but controlled and cardiac patient) recently had bronchial infection. She is asthamatic. This time it got delayed in showing the doc for asthama. She said she had pain in her left collar bone and shoulder while coughing. After docs treatment the cough and asthama part is better but the pain in her left shoulder and collar bone and extending near the left arm pit. She has not taken any pain killer as of now. She was currently taking Augmentin 625 ( Amoxycillin) for the cough and the congestion part. Can u suggest a good painkiller. She did normal work and cannot remember if she had lifted anything heavy.
She might have fracture in ribs
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case. Pain and swelling in shoulder and ribs area are usually due to a cough. Sometimes there can be a hairline fracture in ribs. It is more common in asthmatics as their bones are very weak. I would suggest the following management for her.
1.Tablet Ultracet twice daily.
2.Tablet Etoricoxib 90 mg one tablet daily.
3.Ketoplast stickers are available which can be applied over the shoulder area.
4.Hot water fomentation is also useful.
5.In case the pain is not controlled then you need to get her x rays.
I hope these steps will be helpful for you.Let me know if there is any other follow-up questions.
thanks
