Suggest Treatment For Bronchiolitis In A Child

Unusual for bronchiolitis to last more than 2 weeks, needs a visit
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for asking at Healthcaremagic.
I carefully read your question and understand your concern.
Bronchiolitis is a viral infection caused but RSV and affects children. It is rare under 6 months of age but when it is under 6 months of age it might be more severe.
Normally, because it is caused by a virus it should not last longer than 7-10 days so it is not normal that your child is still wheezing.
The treatment given to him in the hospital is the appropriate one as oxygen and monitoring is the chosen treatment for Bronchiolitis.
It the child has no acute distress like shortness of breath, no rapid breathing, and lips do not get bluish than I would not send him to the ER but still I would schedule a visit with the family doctor to have a check on him and make sure every thing is OK.
I hope this answers to your question and is helpful to you but please let me know if anymore clarifications are needed.
Kind regards,
Dr Antoneta Zotaj
