Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
How was your day?
Hope this message finds you in good health.
I have gone through your pic in detail and understand your concern.
the proximal part of the finger is swollen and bruised.
there are many possibilities..
1. osteomyelitis - long standing infection of the underlying bone, that may have burst open the bone and travelled into the soft tissues
2. soft tissue cyst - no bony involvement, only soft tissue may have swollen with / without infection
3. neuroma- rare , but a possibilty for sure.
i need to ask you few questions-
is the swollen area warm as compared to other fingers
do you get fever constantly
is the swelling painful on pressing it
can make a complete fist or does the affected finger fail to touch the palm
is there any snap sound when u move the finger in and out
An xray will be of immense help to rule out bony involvement
i will wait for your answers.
do revert back, so that we can come to a clinical diagnosis
Wish you a healthy life : )
