Suggest Treatment For Bumps Inside The Labia Minora

default
Posted on Tue, 14 Feb 2017
Question: I just discovered yesterday that I have little bumps inside my labia minora, near the vaginal opening. There are two somewhat lines of them, one on each side of the opening. They are barely noticeable when I just look with my naked eye but on inspection of pictures they are more prominent. They are the color of the surrounding skin. I've done some research and think they could be vestibular papillae, but I am concerned about the possibility of genital warts.

I have never noticed them before but as I said they are difficult to see. There is no pain or itching associated with them.

Brief Answer:
I am confident that you are describing vestibular papillae

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and I hope I can help you today.

If you are young and you never examined your genitals before, you may have not noticed these bumps before.

If you googled the images of the bumps and they look like vestibular papillae, this is likely your diagnosis as they have a characteristic appearance- similar distribution on both sides, no symptoms and a bumpy appearance the same color as the surrounding tissues. These are common findings in young women amd are caused by hormones. They will likely disappear as you age and are just glands that stick out from the skin.

Genital warts typically have an irregular distribution and feel rough like sandpaper. What you describe is not consistent with the typical appearance of genital warts.

I hope I was able to adequately answer your question today and that this information was reassuring. If you have any further question, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best wishes,
