Suggest Treatment For Burning Sensation In Groin Area

default
Posted on Thu, 7 Jan 2016
Question: I am a 67 year-old female. In the last week, I've developed a burning sensation at the top of my left thigh in the 'crease' where it connects to my torso. So, the groin. It's only on the left side. When I am sitting or lying down, I don't feel anything, but as soon as I get up and walk the sensation is there. I do not sweat in that area and I am not sexually active. The area is not red and pressing on it doesn't make it any worse. What could this be?

Thank you,

Brief Answer:
Condition appears due to nerve irritation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for posting your query to the forum.

I can understand your concern for the burning sensation at the groin region.

After diligently analyzing your query I can make out a possibility of partial expression of Meralgia Parasthetica. It is a condition of nerve irritation caused by variety of factors. There is nothing wrong in the skin and is just due to over sensitivity of nerves.

In its initial expression it manifests as burning or pain in the groin.

In my patients I suggest them to wear lose clothes rather than tight fitting ones. I suggest them to take an anti inflammatory tablet such as paracetamol on as and when required basis.

Reduction of weight is an important part of management of the condition.

If at all the problem continues then can meet a doctor personally. I reassure you fully that this is quite simple and manageable condition.

I hope this helps.
