Brief Answer:
Irritant dermatitis; mild topical steroid e.g hydrocortisone

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I have read your query and I have understood your concern.

You seem to have irritated your skin i.e irritant dermatitis.
I suggest you to use a mild topical steroid e.g cortisone cream (hydrocortisone) for 2-3 days so as to let the irritation subside.
Thereafter you may start with topical antiacne medications as would be suggested by your dermatologist
Avoid soaps on face. Use just plain water Or a gentle cleanser e.g cetaphil cleansing lotion.

Thank you.
I have been using aquaphor will that be enough or do i need to buy the hydrocoristone?
How many days should I avoid exposure outside?
will it start peeling like a sunburn?
why is it only irritated in the cheeks are only?
Is it advisable if i cancel my physical appointment tomorrow and continue here if the doctor is going to have the same advice?

Brief Answer:
Hydrocortisone would work better; Review with your doctor as well and also for acne treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Hydrocortisone is topical steroid and therefore would be more effective in resolving irritation/dermatitis. Aquaphor is just a plain moisturizer.

You should avoid exposure to sun till redness/ irritation subsides i.e 3-5 days.

It may peel somewhat depending on how severe is the irritation.

Cheeks are the most sensitive part of face and therefore prone to irritation.

You may also get this reviewed with your doctor as well as consult your doctor for your acne treatment, that you intend to use after irritation subsides.

I do not feel any severe burning or itching sensation. I put the lime on face area for like 30 seconds and washed it off right away. seems much better now after applying Aquaphor. The redness on the cheeks is very mild at the moment compared to immediate reaction 3 hours ago. I am just worried about any skin discolorations long term. I ll update with the condition in the morning before heading to the doctor. Thanks again.

Brief Answer:
A moisturizer would do for minor irritation

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

If it is just a minor irritation then a moisturizer alone will suffice, therefore you may use aquaphor. I don't think there will be any long term complications like discoloration from a minor irritation.

Final Update:

Hello doc,

So the burn, irritation and redness has all gone away this morning. Feels fine even without using a moisturizer but I ll keep using it just so it does not dry out. The only thing that happened is that the chicks and the upper nose area where i ferlt the burn yesterday looks slightly fairer than other areas of the face or it could be because I have slight dark circle under my eyes that is making it look fairer. Over all the skin complexion looks better.

My question is will the area on my face that is more fairer will start getting darker as days passes or will it stay the same?
What can I do to make the skin tone and complexion even throughout the face or let it even out naturally?

Thank you for taking the time to answer my queries. :)

Brief Answer:
Citric acid is a bleaching agent and an exfoliant

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Lime contains citric acid; citric acid is a bleaching agent as well as an exfoliative agent therefore exfoliates epidermal melanin. These actions together are most likely responsible for your transient fairer tone, however, this ought to reverse by itself in a course of a few days.
