Suggest Treatment For Burning Tongue Syndrome
Question: Good morning! I believe I have burning tongue syndrome. I have seen numerous drs: neurologists, rheumatologists, dermatologist, my pcp, pain medicine drs. I am unable to take Lyrica as it makes my heart race. I am currently on Ativan, Vicodin, & Gabepentin for the extreme pain. Any suggestions I may have missed?
Brief Answer:
Multivitamin supplements
Detailed Answer:
Hi. Thank you for writing to HCM.
I completely understand your frustration as Burning mouth syndrome (BMS) is extremely distressing and often difficult to treat. Stress itself can worsen BMS significantly and delay healing.
You have taken all that is indicated for BMS. You may want to add some multivitamins such as B complex medications and Vitamin C to help in the healing of BMS. Working on your stress will also help.
Other than this you may have to wait for 3-4 weeks to allow the symptoms to subside.
Hope this helps.
