Suggest Treatment For Bursitis On The Hip In An Elderly Person With Fibromyalgia

default
Posted on Fri, 17 Feb 2017
Question: I am 71 years old I have had fibromyalgia for 30 years. I also have bursitis in my hips, arthritic knees (had
replacement in one) and plantar facitis and at present I have a fractured vertebrae in the L3. This is all at once and also my grandson died in July of 2015. My Question, "Would any or all of these make me lose my appetite.
Some time I put the food in my mouth and I have to spit it out. I don't know why. I also can't seem to eat
things that are salty like french fries. I love french fries. I have lost 20 pounds since 2015. My husband is
seriously concerned. I am tired, but I feel all the illnesses I have would cause that. Thanks for your input.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for your query.
Poor appetite is not specific for any illness but may occur with diseases of the kidney, liver, occult infections and anxiety. It may also occur with malignancies.
It may be advisable to do liver and kidney functions, a CBC, CRP and tumor markers done.
If these are negative a medicine to stimulate appetite like Cyproheptidine may be helpful.
