Suggest Treatment For Cervical Dysplasia
Question: Prior to PEEP, my Pap showed AGCUS. Had coloposcopy which showed mild-moderate cervical dysplasia. I had LEEP 42 days ago. Two weeks after, i experienced frequent urination, cramp-like discomfort in my bikini area, and abdominal bloating (with gas). The frequent urination resolved but not the abdominal bloating. Sometimes i still experience the cramping but not a lot. Is this normal? I had follow up check-up last two weeks ago and my OB said my cervix is healing well. Next check up is next 6 mos. Thanks
Brief Answer:
Yes, it is normal after LEEP procedure.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing to us about it.
I can understand your concern, though.
Your symptoms are a normal finding after LEEP procedure, it may continue up to 6-8 weeks after the operation.
As your doctor said that everything is normal and your neck is healing properly, there is no need to worry about it.
Avoid sexual intercourse, use of tampons and douching.
You can take Pan- D ( pantaprozole and domestal) for abdominal bloating.
Hope it is useful, feel free to ask more questions.
Good luck.
Regards
Dr.Richa

Since i still have two follow ups questions, i might as well ask --> i had my Leep 5 weeks ago. Biopsy result was negative (what a relief). My question is : during my pap they found i have AGCUS. During colposcopy i was dx with mild-mod dysplasia. After leep. It was negative. What is the possibility that it may recur again? Are there ways to prevent the rcurrence of agcus and dysplasias? Thanks
Brief Answer:
Risk of recurrence approximately 10%.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Sorry for the long delay in my response.
Yes, you can inquire as many questions as you want.
The hazard of recurrence depends upon so many things like the degree and extent of initial abnormality, status of the margin of LEEP specimen and other.
The hazard of recurrence usually 10% and usually occurs in first 2yrs. After treatment.
It is commonly associated with HPV infection, so most effective way to prevent it to do safe sex in future with mostly one partner and regular follow up with a pap smear.
Hope it is clear, feel free to ask more.
Good luck.
