Suggest Treatment For Cervicalgia While Suffering From Cervical Degenerative Disc Disease
Question: WHILE IN THE MILITARY 45 YEARS AGO, I HAD AN ACCIDENT THAT BROKE MY LEFT CLAVICLE AND IT HEALED WRONG (OVER LAPPED). NOW AT AGE 70, I HAVE CERVICALGIA BECAUSE OF C5-C6 AND C6-C7 DISC DEGENERATION. I HAVE 20% VA DISABILITY FOR THE CLAVICLE. COULD THE INJURY HAVE CAUSED THE DISC DEGENERATION FROM THE IMPACT OF THE ACCIDENT? IF SO, SHOULD I APPLY FOR FURTHER VA DISABILITY?
Brief Answer:
Not related to clavicle injury.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The cervicalgia that you have is due to degenerative changes in the cervical spine that are related to age. A past neck injury can contribute to the degeneration. It is not related to the clavicle fracture that you had 45 years ago.
I hope this answers your query.
