Suggest Treatment For Chest Congestion, Hypertension And Slight Chest Pain
Question: I was having chest congestion issue in July'15 and found having hypertension from July'15 (BP 160/100). When consulted with family doctor, started on medicine for Losar H in morning and starcad beta 50 one each in evening (BP reduce to 150/80). When consulted with cardiologist in Aug'15, the medicine changed to single in Telista MT 50. From past two weeks, I am again having slight pain in heart and when check the BP found 150/100 in morning time and 150/90 in evening.

I have gone through your query.Thanks for using HCM.
In view of your various readings of BP one thing is clear that you need BP medicine for life long.Our goal is to maintain BP below 140/90.Your initial reading was 160/100 so you need reduction by 20/10.whenever target reduction of BP is 20/10 or more (as in your case)usually more than group of medicines are needed.There are various group of medicines available to control BP.Decision of selecting medicines is usually guided by standard guidelines.In your case you were rightly started by 2 different group of medicines.however you are not controlled upto the target i.e 140/90. Losar H contains same group of medicine contained In Telista MT(TELMISARTAN ADN METOPROLOL).even Startcad Beta is included in Telista MT as it is prefixed combination.As one has to take life long medication combination in one tab is preferred to improve compliance.
Now the issue is that you still have slight chest pain and your BP is uncontrolled.1.I would suggest you to get Exercise stress test done to rule out blockage in heart arteries leading to chest pain .2.you may need third group of medicine to achieve target of 140/90.I request you to discuss about choosing ACE inhibitor group of medicines Plus Diuretic like chlorthalidone instead of Telista MT.If inspite of using 3 medicines and following healthy life style your BP is above 140/90.You must get kidney function test and Sonography of KUB done to rule out any kidney problem causing uncontrolled BP inspite of adequate medication.
