Question: I've had a bad black and blue mark for almost 2 weeks - more a hemotoma because I had hit it hard and there was blood pooling. It is finally getting better nut its still there. Now I am having some chest pain and a rapid heart beat. Probably not a heart attack and have had this pain before. normally would take an aspirin but concerned whether dangerous with the hematoma. Can i take an aspirin or play it safe and take an Aleve?

Brief Answer:
Do not take aspirin or aleve

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on Healthcaremagic.

A localised collection of blood may take around 10 days to be reabsorbed but can often take more. The location and nature are important to be able to comment on the matter.

There can be many causes of chest pain, the commonest being due to hyperacidity.

Aspirin or aleve (naproxen - a medicine of same category) can make both hyperacidity or the hematoma worse and I would not suggest taking any of them.

It would be best to visit the emergency room of a hospital immediately and get the cause evaluated and to rule out other serious possibilities. Intervention can be done accordingly.
