ps i get daily exercise and have lots of energy
No real indication of serious heart ailment...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
In normal circumstances, our body isn't aware of heart beating within us. Peripheral pulse and a steth auscultation of heart are the only means to check heart beats. So if you can feel the heart beats, it means that heart beats are stronger / faster (though it is felt softly). Some physiological conditions such as high altitude, pressure changes, pregnancy and exercise are factors where you get the awareness. Similarly over active thyroid, anemia, endocrine dysfunctions, anxiety are few pathological conditions which lead to heat beat awareness.
Besides those conditions above heart ailment can also cause those soft palpitations. However since you are other wise healthy, are able to perform exercise rather easily (without strain) and the beat is not hard and fast, I find no real reasons to suspect a heart problem. So your doctor are absolutely right when they ruled out heart ailment; chest pain and rib pain are due to non cardiac reasons.
Based on the details provided viral infection, costochondritis, anemia, pleursy and anxiety are few conditions that come to my mind now. I would really love if you can provide more details of pain such as the exact location of pain, its severity on scale of 1 to 10, is it continuous/intermittent, factors that aggravate/relieve it, relation to food and exercise and other associated symptoms.
In short, do not be worried.
Cheers!!
