Suggest Treatment For Chest Pains

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Oct 2014
Question: I have been having chest pains that feel about a couple inches deep in my chest and have been moving around my chest and even felling them in my upper back. there a lot different then I have ever felt before, I went to the doctors and they gave me a EKG, chest X ray and did blood work to make sure my levels were all good. everything came back perfect. Before I started feeling these chest pains I used to get acid reflux at least once a day. now that I have been having these pains for the past two weeks I haven't had a single episode of acid reflux. could that acid be escaping somewhere else into my chest now causing these pains?

Brief Answer:
Cardiac echo, stress test, upper endoscopy to run

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

ECG and chest X-ray alone are not enough to exclude heart problems. You should run:
- cardiac echo
- holter monitoring
- stress test

to exclude cardiac issues.

Next, upper endoscopy is advised for further evaluation of possible:
- silent GERD/reflux that is showing only during the night and with chest pains during the day
- hiatal hernia
- gastritis

Depending on the results of these tests, specific treatment will be prescribed.

Hope it helped! Let me know if anything unclear!
