It is childhood asthma
Detailed Answer:
Hi...Coming to your queries -
1. Yes, this is childhood asthma (keeping in mind the severity of the symptoms and family history).
2. Your doctor is perfectly correct - this is the latest management strategy for managing asthma in kids of this age.
3. Inhalers are the newest management strategies for this. If I were your paediatrician I would have suggested the use of Budecort metered dose inhaler (100mcg) 2 puffs twice a day through a spacer and this is for regular use for 8 weeks (2 months). Another metered dose inhaler is Levolin and this can used as rescue therapy whenever the kid is having severe cough in spite of regular usage of Budecort.
4. After 2 months I would review the patient symptoms and again decide how much dose should be given and how frequently and when to gradually reduce and stop. These should not be stopped abruptly.
5. The technique is very important and very crucial for the drug to be delivered correctly to the lungs. Regularity of medicine usage also matters a lot. So do not discontinue abruptly after you notice some improvement. The technique of administering an inhaler using a spacer has to be taught to you by your doctor and these are prescription medicines. So I suggest you consult your paediatrician for this.

As i mentioned earlier, doctor had prescribed Montair half tab for ten days. but after 10 days he asked to continue it for another 7 days which i didn't because its a steroid. I hope and pray this will not add on to my child's problem.
Thanks and Regards,
Brown.
Happy that my suggestion helped you
Detailed Answer:
Hi...
1. I am happy that my suggestion helped you.
2. Montair is Monteleukast is not a steroid.
3. Montair dosage is less than 5 years - 4mg once a day/ 5-10 years it is 5mg once a day/ above 10 years it is 10mg once a day.
4. Even Montair can be used for 4-8 weeks. It is a very safe drug.
