So does that mean that I had it when i got tested the first time? Or did i contract it from my partner afterward. The incubation period says 7-21 days later , and i waited four weeks from the time of intercourse to get tested. The test came back negative and the test they performed was a swab test. Then I continued to have sex with my partner and when i went to get treated for a yeast infection 2 weeks after the first test, the result came back positive. Does this mean my partner received it from someone else and could have possibly given it to me?
Brief Answer:
possible reasons explained
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for follow up query.
These can happen due to following reasons:
Many infections are asymptomatic. So cannot tell who acquired first.
The tests sensitivity varies from 80% to 95% by different studies.so there are chances of missing it .
They are slow growing and can come positive late when there are coinfections.though the usual incubation period is 7-21 days.
May be you have acquired it later also is a possibility which cannot be ruled out.she might have asymtomatic infection.
