Question: My son is two months and two weeks is now. He always grunts, arch's his nody, brings hands and legs up. Sometimes cries during this arching, he always tries to fart while drinking milk. It seems he has colic as well as reflux issues. We started giving Colic Clam which is homeopathic medicine twice a day it has relieved a little bit.

Brief Answer:
simethicone can be tried

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
Colic pain is very common at this age.
Don't worry.
If you are in USA you can give simethicone drops like mylicon.
It is very effective to release the gassy pain.
Continue feeding and ensure proper burping after each feed by putting baby on your shoulder and gently tapping his back for atleast 15 minutes.
Wishing your child good health.

Hi Doctor,

I am located in the USA, I wanted to know if any doctor in US can answer my question but thanks a lot doctor for your response, I really appreciate that.

Doctor prescribed Zantax 0.5 ml two times a day, we gave for 5 days and the problem we had was that he lost appetite and is gagging, throwing up more. We stopped giving that and only gave Colic Calm which is a homeopathic medicine for Gas and stomach upset.

But now he has reflux, he arches his back and hand, cried in between. The moment you put the feeding bottle nipple he starts arching and then when we take it he slowly reduces his movements, arches, crying.

He doesn't have much problem in the morning, he feeds 4 oz pretty good and burps nicely too. So far he is not losing weight, passes his poop regularly (at least once per day) as well as has wet diaper when we change him before every feed.

Does simethicone drops like mylicon relieve from reflux and Colic as well or just colic?

Also, we give him tummy time and I massage him with Olive oil before bath on his tummy and he does release gas by giving cycling motion to his legs and gently pressing it against his chest.

We are kind of worried as it is our first kid. Kindly advice, thanks a lot!

Hi Doctor,

I started giving Simethicone from yesterday, we gave til now four doses. So far he is doing better but from last two days he is constantly crying throughout night and he doesn't sleep.

He starts crying the moment he starts taking milk. Hope things will go around!
