Suggest Treatment For Chronic Bronchitis Infection

Few days back I had to go into emergency because of the difficulty breathing and was given adrenaline and hydrocort (inj.) in addition to Nebulisation which subsequently relieved me. The doctor has asked me to continue with the same medication but I am looking for something that can reduce the onset of symptoms if possible. Please help?
consult pulmonologist.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your problem and situation.
In my opinion you should consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Chest x ray
2. PFT (pulmonary function test).
The most common cause for worsening of chronic bronchitis is infection. So we need to rule out this first. So chest x ray is needed.
PFT is needed to quantify the severity of obstruction.
And I will also comment on asthalin. It is having salbutamol which is Short Acting Beta 2 Agonist (SABA). Its action last for only 2-3 hours. So ideally not should be used as maintainance treatment. It is used in emergency.
Better to start Long Acting Beta 2Agonist (LABA) instead of asthalin. LABA is having action of 10-12 hours. And it is more superior in controlling symptoms. You should also ask about other inhaled drugs like tiotropium and inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) to your doctor.
All will give you more symptomatic control than asthalin.
You should also avoid syrup you are taking. Better to start mucolytic and expectorant syrup rather than cough suppressant.
You should also enroll in pulmonary rehabilitation center where chest physiotherapy and deep breathing exercise are done. These will improve lung functions.
So consult pulmonologist and discuss about these better treatment options for chronic bronchitis.
By these treatment modification your symptoms will definitely improve.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.
