Suggest Treatment For Chronic Migraine, Bloating, Tiredness And Excessive Belching

Question: Hi, I am wondering if I am celiac or not. I have not been tested yet, but I plan on it if you think I should. I have migraines and have suffered from it for years, since I was a kid. In the past two years it had gotten really bad, and I felt like nothing was working. I started doing my own research to see what else I could try, and a couple of sites said cut gluten out of your diet. So i did, and its helped a lot, unless I accidently eat some with contaminated food or its not on the label etc. And then ill either get a migraine, or feel bloated or tired drowzy. But im now concerned about it possibly being celiac because the more research I do, that seems to be what its pointing to. I used to get random days of naseousness, especially from fast food places like subway and chicken strips from white spot, at work if I had eaten before work (lots of walking, lifeguard). Plus bloating, excessive burping, and feeling of being overly full that would make me feel ill. I also used to get random hand and feet swelling during the day and when I got up in the morning. I find I get less tension in my shoulders and i dont grind my teeth as much since I stopped eating it. Also, my random dizzy spells have disapeared. Plus , ankylosing spondylitis runs in my family (grandfather and mother) plus my little sister has ulcerative colitis, and first cousin has MS. What should I do? Is it what I think it is, or is it something else?

Brief Answer:
Yes it can be ceoliac

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic!

Based on the history you have shared, it does seem like coeliac and since you are getting benefits from gluten free diets, and on quiting food compliance or precautions you experience the same symptoms again. All of this point towards it, but there is simple way to confirm it and that is on,
ceoliac serology which is least invasive way to find it out. But as the symptoms of swelling and dizziness are concerned you need to screen yourself for complications of coeliac being low albumin or malabsorption syndromes. Also hemoglobin levels, iron and folic acid levels, alongwith D3 would need to be confirmed and later on replaced if any deficiency is found. Meanwhile keep using gluten free diets until it is confirmed to be otherwise on the labs.

Hope this has answered your query, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
