Suggest Treatment For Chronic Neck Pain

Question: I have had right side neck pain for a year now. i have had an ultrasound, CT and have been to an ENT. I have been on two different antibiotics, i have been on two tapered doses of prednisone which help decrease the pain. i have had swelling by the jaw line three times then it goes away. i am now taking gabapentin which helps to decrease the pain. i am wondering if you have seen this in your practice. the pain is very annoying but sometimes the pain gets really bad.

i also seen a dentist for possible TMJ i have a night guard. i do not have TMJ

- 58 years old female
- 1 year with pain on right side neck; swelling of the jaw line 3 times, then goes away
- tests done so far: ultrasound, ct-scan, ENT examination
- medications tried: 2 different antibiotics, 2 tapered doses of prednisone; gabapentin to decrease the pain

Now, if you have been on antibiotics, that makes me think that a site of infection have been diagnosed. As you have done so many tests, can you please provide the reports so I can analyze them myself?

Next, if you have pain and swelling of jaw line, then, we should consider:
- bad teeth?
- ear infection?
- throat infection?
- arthritis of the jaw?

That's why I need to see your reports first before running into final conclusion.

I see a dentist regularly and my teeth are in good condition. i have had a CBC,BMP, SED rate, CRP all with in normal range.
I also want to explain the neck pain a little bit more. The pain seems to start just under the the ear like it is pulling at my ear then it radiates down the neck following the carotid artery. All my VS are stable and I have never had a fever. I am going to check into possible Eustachian tube blockage.
