Question: I fell downstairs 5 weeks ago now and landed on my tailbone, turns out my tailbone is cracked but not moved out of position, I am still experiencing chronic pain, is this normal and when can I expect to return to work? I work in care and unable to bend or lift so not fit for work at present.

Brief Answer:
Pain may last.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Usually it takes six to eight weeks for a tailbone fracture to stabilize, but pain may go on longer.

Local injections of corticosteroids (Kenakort 40 mg for example) helps in reducing significantly the pain.

Injections may be repeated up to three times between 2 weeks each.

Timing of returning to work depends what your symptoms (pain).

Discuss with your primary care Doctor about these issues.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Greetings.

Thanks for your answer, so when you fracture your tailbone then it doesn't always move out of place, is that correct? So once the pain stabilizes I should be able to do more but still have pain, but perhaps as you say injections will help for this, does botox injections help?

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Botox isn't used for tailbone fracture.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

If the tailbone fractured moved out or place or not, this is shown by x-rays.

It is possible that a tailbone fracture to be again in a correct anatomical position.

Botox isn't used for this kind of disorder.

Hope I helped you.

Take care.
