Suggest Treatment For Clear Nasal Discharge Post Recovery From Bronchitis

default
Posted on Wed, 3 Aug 2016
Question: I had brochitis several weeks ago and my Dr. prescibed Z-Pac I think. I took and most symptoms went away after a week or two. However, I have had a constant problem only with my R. nares ever since. I have a clear discharge, somewhat thick to the point that my nose doesnt run but I blow (snot) out of the right side constantly. I can blow my nose one minute and thirty secs later I do it again. At night I use my C-Pap so I dont notice it but in the AM the first thing I do is blow a wad of snot out of that nares and the cycle starts all over again for the day. Help!

Brief Answer:
Supportive care, no worries

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Constant runny nose, is likely a separate entity and not connected to previous bronchitis episodes. It may be due to local problems of sinuses like sinusitis or other congestion issues like allergic rhinitis etc. Treatment is supportive and includes nasal irrigations, avoiding forceful blowing of the nose, use of decongestants, avoiding allergens, getting subcutaneous and submucosal and other allergen immunotherapies, use of antihistamines and topical nasal sprays. Talk to an otorhinolaryngologist, let them assess your nasal passages and sort out te possible cause, i am sure it is benign and needs supportive care only.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
